Outdoor Fungal Foray

Are you or field naturalist group that you belong to interested into hiking in nearby forested areas to learn more about mushrooms and other fungi that exist there? If yes, then give us a shout, because there is not much that can be better than exploring the outdoors and discovering enormous fungal diversity that mother nature has to offer and learning a few things.

Best times to forage and scout around for mushrooms, is typically in the fall, a day or two after after a good rain. Key distinguishing characteristics used to identify the differnt types of fungi along with their ecology, and ecosystem functioning and other intersting tid bits will be discussed during our mycological journey. And yes, we will talk about whether the specimens we see and collect are known to be edible or poisonous.

It is advised that you bring a magnifying lens that is at least 10X power, an outdoor knife, and paper or mesh bags for examination and collection purposes.
